Imperial County
California to Launch New REVERSE 911®
System
Temecula, CA, August
20, 2008 — As of September 5, 2008, the
residents of Imperial County, California,
will be considerably safer and more informed
due to the implementation of the nationally
acclaimed REVERSE 911® emergency
notification solution.
Offered by industry
leader PlantCML, this innovative technology
automates the critical communications
process, enabling public safety operations
to send hundreds, or even thousands of voice
and text messages in minutes. Alerts can be
delivered for such reasons as natural
disasters, evacuations, missing person
alerts, terrorism threats, escaped felons,
water contaminations and hazardous materials
incidents.
Although REVERSE 911® is
new to Imperial County, the technology has
been used throughout California for years.
In fact, REVERSE 911® was utilized
extensively during the San Diego wild fires
to help send messages about evacuations,
shelters and imminent danger. California
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was so
impressed with the efficiency of the program
he decided to allocate funds to counties
without mass communication systems to
purchase emergency notification technology.
